The Carolina Chaos will have a new coaching staff in 2025. Andy Towers and his staff have resigned, multiple sources tell Sticks In Lacrosse. Sources near the team say the decision came after the league sought to replace a member of the coaching staff, and it led ultimately to the entire staff's decision to step down.
Towers led the Chaos to the number one overall seed in 2019, the PLL Championship game in the bubble in 2020, a PLL Championship in 2021, and another PLL Championship game appearance in 2022. Last summer, The Chaos upset the Boston Cannons in the quarterfinals before losing to the eventual champion Utah Archers in the semifinals.
The Chaos were mid-offensive rebuild in 2024, pivoting from a unit defined by box style players and two man games to a team built on quickness, dodging, and explosive speed. The results were some growing pains, as the adjustment was difficult and the Chaos offensive had the lowest scoring output in the PLL. It culminated in just single goal being scored in the semifinals, ending the season on a sour note. The defense remained excellent, leading the league in scores allowed. Backstopped by MVP Blaze Riorden, the close defense unit including Jack Rowlett, Jarrod Neumann, and Will Bowen was an aggressive and physical force.
An interim coaching staff has not yet been named. The Chaos roster still boasts former MVP Riorden in net, Josh Byrne on the offense end among other young weapons like Shane Knobloch and Ross Scott, and the league’s top defense.
This is a developing story.
